Genre Research: Escape Room

One element from Escape Room that we based our final task on is the creativity of the Mystery genre. Elements like the puzzle aspect of Escape Room are things we would like to have in our task which the movie does well. This movie also has good scenery which we would make with the use of props and changing locations.

Good elements of this movie are the intelligence of the characters as they use all their knowledge and work together to escape the mysterious puzzles they face. Another good element of this movie are the props and constant scenery changes. Escape Room changes the location after every puzzle which keeps the movie fresh and the mystery alive as the viewers cant adjust to their current situation. Lastly, Escape Room does a great job of giving the puzzles life. When there is a new room and puzzle you can feel all the work put in the rooms and the cleverness of the puzzles

An element that truly made this movie unappealing was the cliche ending that it had, the fact that the winners of the escape room decided to run back to the game just to figure out what’s going on really puts the movie in a situation where the audience is just left upset because characters had passed away just for a repeating cliffhanger to lead to the sequel of the movie which could most likely have the same exact plot as the current movie. It just seemed really unnecessary and cliche for it to even end that way and it should really just be left as a single movie instead of trying to milk more plot details out of the movie.
