Genre Research: Hereditary

 This movie has elements that our group would like to include in our final task such as the tense ambience created by the mysterious entity that disturbs the family. Having a mood that puts the viewer at the edge of their seat while also trying to solve and figure out what's going on is something Hereditary does well and something our group would like to recreate into our film. Another element that inspired our film was the use of subverting the viewers expectations. This movie may make the viewer believe one thing is going on when in reality something entirely different may be happening. The unpredictable nature of Hereditary is a great base for a mystery film as mystery constantly wants the viewer confused and questioning.

Some elements that we enjoyed were the non-stop tension as the family would often be arguing and constantly fighting over something they do not understand. Hereditary manages to show the reality of family struggles but also mysterious element about supernatural entity's. This combination provides the mood of tension yet mystery perfectly to the viewer as they may relate to the film making the tension feel closer to home while also being scared of the unknown monster that troubles the protagonists.

There wasn't much wrong with this movie as it was mostly a unique concept that displayed everything a mystery movie needs. The movie managed to scare the viewers and also introduce new topics and ideas that the viewer might not be certain of this. Because of the theme of mental illness and extreme gruesome scenes it would make sense why people wouldn't like the movie but it was well done with an ending that confused several people including me.

 One thing that 12 Monkeys does is make it seem very dull on purpose. The short film uses a narrator with a very monotone voice to show this off. Also, the movie uses still images and adds voiceovers or other sounds to them after. This once again achieves the same goal, being to make the film detached. Editing for Short Film Begins

 Today we will be starting editing for the short film. Editing begins with software to make changes to the scenes we shot. While I am not experienced in editing, I can still give advice and recommendations on edits. Also, I can discuss what I want to see being edited in the film. Besides that, my group did the editing itself. Due to this, I will be discussing what they did and how I am involved. First of all, my groupmates who edited have experience in editing. This was the reason why they edited the film rather than me. Also, they have experience in different software for editing. Despite this, we ended up staying primarily with iMovie. I suggested iMovie for many reasons. The main reason to use iMovie is that it's free, allowing it to be an affordable option for all. It's also accessible on all devices. iMovie can be found on laptops, phones, and tablets. Production For My Short Film Continues

I'm back to filming! This time we continued filming in the mall. It was the same location as last time as we were familiar with it already. We needed to be more careful with the scheduling of our filming this time. The filming location was a mall but unfortunately, it closed before we could get further into production. This filming day was different as we got to continue and further develop our short film. Before leaving my house, I checked the hours of the mall closing time to ensure the same mistake would not be repeated twice. I set a specific time for everyone to arrive at the location to film but we all arrived a bit later than intended. Luckily, this was barely a setback for us and we started right away. Because we chose to film on a weekday after school, the mall didn't have as many people as it would've on another day.
