Title Research: Scream (1996)

 - What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? The opening sequence has one title card that starts with the name of the movie, starting off from white to red 

- What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? One image that gets prioritized heavily is the phone of Casey Becker. Another thing that gets prioritized is the house such as the doors, the kitchen, the stove.

- What connotations do these images carry? The phone shows a mysterious voice that keeps on dialing her. The stranger continuously asks odd questions that begin to get intimidating. The movie uses the phone as a way to scare the viewer as the ringing continues. The movie also displays many parts of the house to make the viewer believe there is a mysterious danger lurking in a place meant to be safe.

- How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? The movie does several things to create a mystery such as by starting a phone call conversation with someone who the viewers have never seen or heard. Another thing the movie does is create tension by thinking there is someone in the shadows when there isn't anyone there. The stranger also establishes that they have knowledge that a random person wouldn't know, which makes the audience wonder who this truly is. Lastly, when we finally see the Ghostface killer they are wearing a costume and mask to conceal their identity, keeping the stranger mysterious to the audience.

- What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? One thing the movie does in the opening is self-aware. The stranger in the movie talks about horror tropes and horror movies such as Friday The 13th. Because of the awareness, the movie creates a unique environment that viewers can relate to more as they recognize the topic.

- How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions, and editing techniques. One thing that the opening sequence does well is create a threat with just angles and shots. In the opening, there are multiple tracking shots of Casey walking through her house. This starts off just exploring her house while she makes food then turns into her frantically locking her doors and displays her panic effectively. The movie also shows a POV shot of Casey looking through her door with the visuals of the door pattern from her perspective. Technology is also being used by using the cellphone as the premise of the opening.

 One thing that 12 Monkeys does is make it seem very dull on purpose. The short film uses a narrator with a very monotone voice to show this off. Also, the movie uses still images and adds voiceovers or other sounds to them after. This once again achieves the same goal, being to make the film detached. Le Jetee uses certain transitions to acquire a "dream-like ambiance" which helps to contrast the clean shots when characters are conversing. Editing for Short Film Begins

 Today we will be starting editing for the short film. Editing begins with software to make changes to the scenes we shot. While I am not experienced in editing, I can still give advice and recommendations on edits. Also, I can discuss what I want to see being edited in the film. Besides that, my group did the editing itself. Due to this, I will be discussing what they did and how I am involved. First of all, my groupmates who edited have experience in editing. This was the reason why they edited the film rather than me. Also, they have experience in different software for editing. Despite this, we ended up staying primarily with iMovie. I suggested iMovie for many reasons. The main reason to use iMovie is that it's free, allowing it to be an affordable option for all. It's also accessible on all devices. iMovie can be found on laptops, phones, and tablets. Production For My Short Film Continues

I'm back to filming! This time we continued filming in the mall. It was the same location as last time as we were familiar with it already. We needed to be more careful with the scheduling of our filming this time. The filming location was a mall but unfortunately, it closed before we could get further into production. This filming day was different as we got to continue and further develop our short film. Before leaving my house, I checked the hours of the mall closing time to ensure the same mistake would not be repeated twice. I set a specific time for everyone to arrive at the location to film but we all arrived a bit later than intended. Luckily, this was barely a setback for us and we started right away. Because we chose to film on a weekday after school, the mall didn't have as many people as it would've on another day.
