Short film research: Palm Rot

 Palm rot is a mysterious film without the usage of any dialogue amongst characters. The camera work in is dynamic and visually striking, with a mix of close-ups and wide shots that capture the mood atmosphere, and shows us the location of the man. The lighting in the film is carefully crafted to create a sense of tension and unease, with shadows and highlights used to great effect. The character in Palm Rot delivered a sense of lostness along with the dynamic lighting and effects to demonstrate the confusion the man felt. The music in the short film fit each scene perfectly. The camera angles and movements in "Palm Rot" are expertly chosen and executed, adding to the film's sense of tension and drama while also remaining mysterious. The lighting in the film creates a sense of mystery and foreboding, with dimly lit scenes and dramatic use of shadows. The character in Palm Rot  conveys emotion through their facial expressions and body language as nothing is said throughout the entire film. The sound design in "Palm Rot" is top-notch, with well-placed sound effects that keeps the audience wondering about the mysteriousness of the man and his purpose. The shots taken covers the man's expressions and emotions throughout the film. .The lighting in Palm Rot creates a sense of atmosphere and mood, with the use of flashy, intense light towards the end of the film keeping the audience hooked. The character in the film is heard yelling as the unknown happens to the man. The man is expressional throughout the film without dialogue. Through yelling and no dialogue the film seemed to be more mysterious. We may implement some of these strategies into our film to keep a mysterious presence all throughout. The man's acting give a sense of curiosity to the audience as he's always exploring his surroundings. Towards the end of the film the scene gets darker and frantic lights start flashing us giving the audience a sense of urgency in what's happening. The man is always confused even until the end as the questionable happens. The angle captures palm trees rising from amongst the ground and the confused look of the man's face. This invokes a mysterious vibe from the film and leaves the audience thinking. These tactics would be perfect for our mystery film and we look forward to using these.
